Yonezawa - Mechanical Space Robot aka Conehead Robot
Conehead Robot is the nickname for Mechanical Space Robot and was made in 1967 by Yonezawa in Japan and is a pretty late period robot. The robot shares its body with 2 other robots, the astronaut variation and roby robot. Made out of tin with some small lithographed parts and a clockwork mechanism.
Conehead was a Japanese Superhero in the late sixties and was well known for his rockets in his feet, just like astroboy for example.
Its the robots head that makes him so special. big eyes and a very unusual shape. Conehead robot was made only for the Japanese Market and maybe that is the reason why this is a very hard to find robot.
Where the robot is almost impossible to find, Its the BOX that makes this robot special, VERY special.. The artwork on the box is amazing and only a handfull of boxed examples are known to excist. I believe i saw it only once in auction many years ago. Never saw a boxed conehead in the open market. This box is not original by the way but a professional made handmade reproduction of the original box
The condition of this robot is excellent to near mint.. The robot has both his original ears and also the tip on his head is original. Works fine and strong and even sparks. Some light playwear throughout the robot is all to mention, some wear and some minor scratching.
Funny detail is that he Japanese their english was not the best.
The box says: TRADF Y MARK :)
Extremely hard to find robot in this condition with a very nice made reproductionbox.
