Well... if you EVER wondered ( and why shouldn`t you :-) how a new mint in box moon detector would look like than... here it is !!!!
This is an unplayed with and untouched mint in box example of this legendary toy, Yonezawa`s Moon Detector. I also know why this toy survived all these years... it was brought back to the shop in 1964 because it did not work properly, was put asside and was found many many years later in the UK.
Build by Yonezawa Japan in 1964, this is the cost reduced follow up for the walking Moon Explorer M-27 (1963) The legs have been removed and have been replaced for a stronger and reliable system with rubber tracks. The body, domes, engine and antenna are exactly the same as with the 1963 moon explorer, but the litho and the actions are different.
Yonezawa`s Moon Detector moves along the floor with the rubber tracks, the detectors wiggle and snuffle while they are illuminated. There is a switch on top with forward and back control, the rotating and illuminated engine produces a wonderful lightshow and the antenna is rotating. A very attractive spacetoy that is less fragile then its forerunner.
The condition is unplayed with, near mint to mint in ditto box complete with inserts. The toy is partly working, moves forward and lights up but the sniffle antennas do not work and the antenna does not spin properly. This was the reason the toy was returned. I think this one should stay untouched this way, its a pitty to open up this toy for these flaws but its something to decide for the new owner. I would personally suggest to leave the toy this way.
This one does never need an upgrade ! You will never find a nicer example. Extremely scarce toy in this condition !
